Who the hell is: Marcin Rot?

How did you get started riding?

Probably just like the most did. From the very beginning I was shredding on my bike through the local parks and streets but I’ve always wanted to make the most out of it. Simply spinning my cranks endlessly felt stupid so I tried to have fun while doing it. Hitting curbs and little ledges ect. just to have those few moments of adrenaline from every ride. Later I’ ve found out from magazines and Internet that people actually ride bikes for extreme purposes! Then, I’ve searched through Wroclaw (my home town) for some spots and occasionally I’ ve found a dirt spot which I “tried” to ride back in a days. Now it’s pretty much the same but the jumps and tricks are bigger!

What keeps you motivated to ride?

First of all, joy of riding and getting stoked on every ride. Everything is partly important: progress, trips, victories, finding new places to shred, escaping the safety zone ect. but for me, riding itself is the best thing ever. It does not matter if it is a local mini park or massive jumps at the contest. When I grab my bike any day can turn out great!

Quick trailer of Marcin’s skills:

What’s Your Preference? Street, Park, Dirt, DH, Vert, Flat?

Well, it’s mostly dirt but I am always keen for some fun at the park spots, swim through pools or boost a quarter. I would love to downhill and freeride more but I didn’t have many chances to do it yet.

Whats your favorite trick?

My beloved truck-driver!

La Poma POV:

Where’s your favorite place to ride?

The most awesome place I’ve been up to date is definitely La Poma Bikepark, but I am stoked on the jumps me & my friends created at our local spot in Strzegom, Poland. There are a lot of funny places to ride so it’s hard to choose the best one and even if we have one, it’s often far away from where we live, so grab your shovels mates!

Whats your favorite event?

Polish Champs in Milanówek! Best atmosphere, dirt jumps and great verification of who can truly ride!

Whats been your best moment with your bike so far?

Just like in the second question, I don’t have any characteristic moment from my past. I still ride through one when I jump on my bike. Same passion, different day.

What’s your favorite story from a road trip?

Haha, I am drowning in possibilities now and can’t bring out the best one! Last calling everything, fails, wastes and cops out of nowhere is a daily basic when we go hard. If you were on the trip with us, you know how the life is. One of my funniest memories was the time when we were in Barcelona and we ( 8 persons) needed some help from “bomberos” (fireguards) to get out of the 1.5 x 2m elevator in which we were stuck for an hour just a moments later after we claimed the rooftop of the closed skyscraper! Not bad?

What type of music do you ride to?

I usually don’t ride with the music but I still love to listen to some good Polish rap and electronic music from time to time. Still, good ol’ rock&roll and sounds from films like NWD keeps me hyped!

What do you when you are not riding?

Lately I don’t have much occasions to ride (work ect.) so when I got some free time I always choose riding over bitching around. When the weather is not on my side I dig my spot or hang out and over with friends or trip to rain proof locations. I love taking life to the fullest so when some MX, skateboarding or goofy sports come around, I try them!

What’s your day job?

It’s hard to name it properly but I am steering the computer work of developing stuff in a fabric. Sounds bit awkward but that’s how it is.

What are your riding plans for the future?

I would love to ride more than this year, have a chance to compete more, especially abroad but due to my injuries I missed a lot of 2014 season. Slowly I am moving into the more mountain style of riding and I hope to visit them more regularly.

What’s the best advice you have ever received?

„Don’t be a pussy and stomp it” haha, but to be more serious, simply do what you love! Coming out of the teenager life into the adult one may not be easy, but you will appreciate everything more, so never back down!

Any last words, thoughts or shout outs?

Holla to all my friends and family, to those who live by their passion! Keep riding and don’t waste life on Facebook and shit! High 5!
