We have been so pumped on these fresh wheels and hubs from Atomlab.

Has any brand been more synonymous with the DJ scene from the beginning than Atomlab ? I would have to say no. Even though Atomlab has had tough times like any brand the one thing that has always stayed constant is their dedication to the scene and to make super good parts that hold up under the abuse we all throw at them.

I was pretty excited when Lance from Atomlab sent us over a set of the new 2015 Pimplite wheels that come equipped with the all new 102 hubs. The first thing you always notice about Atomlab rims is the finish. They have a super durable finish. The color and etched graphics always pop and look great on any build. We mounted up the wheels to my 2014 Dartmoor Cody. The wheels look sick and are straight as an arrow even after a couple of months of mostly park use. The Pimplite rim is 27mm wide on the outside with an interior of 21mm. The thick sidewalls make for a very strong and responsive rim. If they hold up for Danny MacAskill and thousands of other riders they will certainly hold up for you. The Pimplite is THE rim for your 26″ PSBMX bike whether you ride street, park, dirt, slope or whatever.

This new 102 hub from Atomlab is dialed!!! So pumped on how smooth it is.

The big news on the 2015 Atomlab Pimplite wheel set is of course the new hubs. The new Pimplite SS hubs are made from a 6061 body, have sealed bearings and offer 102 points of engagement! To say these hubs are responsive is a huge understatement. As soon as you press down on the pedal you start moving. This makes quick adjustments in speed and anything you use pedal pressure for so much easier. Brakeless tailtaps are a breeze with this hub. The 10mm x 135 hub weighs only 410g. Which is a very competitive weight. Since everyone knows that Atomlab makes legit components most of the questions about this hub have been how it sounds. Is it as loud as a Profile at a fraction of the price? Well we got creative (and a little sketchy) with a GoPro and you can hear the hub at work in this video…

All in all the new Atomlab Pimplite wheels are the best I have ever run. They aren’t heavy. Only 2250g/4.9 lbs for the set. Which doesn’t weigh my bike down at all. The performance is as good as any hub or wheel on the market. A ton of people have tried them out on my bike and everyone has been impressed with how stiff and responsive they are. The other good thing is that they won’t weigh heavy on your pocket book either. The wheels are also available as parts or completes. The Pimplite rims are available in seven colors and retail for $74usd. The 102 hubs are also available for $119usd for the front and $279usd for the rear. But at only $649usd the Atomlab Pimplite SS wheelset is a super good deal for a legit complete set right out the box for your Dirt Jumper or slopestyle bike. It may be the last pair you ever need!
