Piotrek Krajewski is back again for his sixth all-out post where he sums up his Polish daily duties, trip to shows/Kluszkowce and working his ass of at Bikepark Kazoora! Dig in for a freshly baked up stories and thoughts from PSBMX’s own – Piotrek Krajewski “Kraja”!
Hello fellas, welcome again to my monthly article here at PSBMX.com! Hope you did enjoy May, as weather getting better and more girls wearing less clothes every day! As always I will start with last month’s highlights from the world of bikes and the news from myself!
First thing I would like to mention is the most recent event that took place in Leogang and one of the worst crashes I have seen in Downhill Race – the terrible crash of Remi Thirion where he with an approximate speed of 60 km/h overshoot the last jump before the finish line and landed on his front wheel and back. Go and send him some positive vibes because he definitely needs your support! Coming to more positive news with the legendary Dirt Jumping event – 26 Trix. Congratulations go to Italian shredder Diego Caverzasi who managed to achieve the best score which not surprising when you start your run with frontflip barspin, then frontflip no hand, cashroll and flip bar to whip for an end. Nicholi Rogatkin took 2nd and Simon Pages was 3rd
Another event worth mentioning is a FISE World Montpellier with whole bunch of sports events. I would like to focus on Dirt Jumping competition with the special emphasis on the first HUGE jumps – go check out the massive crash by Bienvenido Aguado Alba ALMOST landing the frontflip cliffhanger (?!?!). Coming to results: Emil Johansson who is just 17 years old had the best run with flip double whip on big mamma, 36 bar to downwhip, whip, opo track and double downside. Second again Nicholi Rogatkin and Mehdi Gani taking third spot. Special shout out for Adolf Silva and his massive backflip double no hand and Szymon Godziek for his super seaters done normally and upside down!
I would like to apologise you all for not making the last video recap for PTD 5 but due to the season opening event at my homespot Bikepark Kazoora I had so little time to film and I had to focus on the preparation for it. Now with huge pride I can easily say we do have a best complex Bikepark in Poland with two pumptracks, five different dirt jumping lines from one for total beginners to pro riders, three wooden drops, A-line with 15 jumps, 300m 4X track, almost ready 3 km long MTB XCO track and also by the end of the year the 200m concrete flow pumptrack will be finished! What is quite unique is that all this is accessible by city metro line!
Last month was quite intensive for me. After the season opening at Bikepark Kazoora I had a pleasure to be a part of another show with Szymon Godziek’s Extreme Bike Show by Sfera Sportu in the old manufacture converted for a modern shopping mall. I have also visited Joy Ride Bike Festival in Kluszkowce and did start in my very first Downhill competition with a result of 18th out of 103 participants so I have to admit that I’m quite happy with my result. Of course I did it my way which means I did pull a no hander on one step down and managed to lose control of the bike just before the end and I did roll into the finish line. There was also a whip off contest at which I was participating chainless – you know sometimes I just like to do it my way and through the contest I did the same by throwing few supermans, can cans and almost a flip – long and not enough steep kicker forced to catapult myself out of the bike – well it happens sometimes (:D).
At the end I would like to share with you my thoughts about the preparation for the season and riding at the mountains bikeparks where the lines are bit longer than at the average home spot. I have to admit that in my case I was quite shocked how easy it was for me to ride something around 20 laps a day at Joyride Bikepark Aline (one lap was something around 2:30). How did I prepare myself for this? Answer is quite unusual: PROPER DIGGING + core training + stretching. We have started digging at the end of March and after two months of spot preparation the spot was ready and also my body. So you can easily skip some trainings at the gym and replace them with the renovation of your spot – that a win-win situation!
See you next month when I will bring you the news from June and my other adventures – stay safe out there!
