It’s January and that means a few things for our scene. One of the biggest is the start of the 2018 FMB World Tour season in Leogang, Austria with White Style! This years event brings to it a new format that will put the riders head to head in a “battle style” contest. Check out a interview with Tom Cardy about this years event coming up on January 26th. Get more details here…

As we had a chance to watch you riding and jibbing all around the place, have you ever got a chance to jump snow jumps?

Tom Cardy: The first time I rode on snow was in the UK a few years back on a “snow day”, but White Style 2017 was the first time riding real jumps in the snow. It took some getting used to, that’s for sure!

How often have you competed at White Style?

Only once in 2017, which makes 2018 even more exciting!

What are your expectations for White Style?

To have fun, collect some great pictures and make a cool video, too! As for my result in the contest, I will just go and have fun, then see where we end up!

White style is always epic!!!

Have you been practicing any new stuff lately that you are looking to pull in Leogang?

That would be telling, you will have to check the highlight video and other footage to find that one out!

How do you stay fit on bike through UK’s well known weather?

I put a lot of time in during autumn making my local jumps weather-proof, so they are running all year around, but also, we have a few really good indoor skateparks close which is a massive help.

What are your thoughts on the new battle style format of White Style?

I personally think that it’s awesome, it reminds me of the Red Bull X Fighters format. Also change is good, I feel that it’s going to be interesting for the viewers and us riders!

No way I would miss a weekend of dirt jumping with Tom Cardy, just look at this up side down extension.

How do you prepare for a contest like this which is completely different than any other?

Just try stay motivated, contests are a mental game so make sure that before you leave for the event,  you are comfortable with the tricks you decide to do then just take each hurdle as it comes when you are at the event.. and don’t panic!

Can we expect any bangers you’ve been working on?

That would be telling, you will have to check the highlight video and other footage to find that one out!

What’s your favorite part about White Style?

I like the fact that it’s the first contest of the year and it stands out even more because it’s on snow, too. These two things together have made it a special event for me since I started following the sport.

Is there anything you would like to tell our readers about White Style?

The steepness and speed of the course is crazy, I couldn’t believe it the first time I went, judging speed is really important but this makes it exciting, also the snow is much more grippy then you would imagine!
